Images

Formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG

Dimensions: Ideally under or equal to 1280x768 (max 2048x2048) to avoid freezing (due to runtime GPU upload limitations) and VRAM saturation.

Videos

  • Only MP4 is supported at the moment.

  • Supports 2D (360 Videos are temporarily disabled and will be back later).

  • We do support transparent and volumetric videos, see video specifics.

Resolution:

  • HoloLens: 720p is preferable.

  • Standalone computer with high-end GPUs: 8K.

File weight: 250Mb Maximum.

Sound

Formats: OGG, WAV, MP3.

Text

We provide a limited support of .txt files.

On VR/MR headsets, writing text is possible with:

  • A Bluetooth keyboard.

  • Windows Mixed Reality portal in the "Virtual Input” tab.

  • The Windows Holographic Keyboard is not available due to a runtime issue Microsoft is about to fix.

We recommend you write your text on a PC, put them on your preferred cloud storage service, then import in your scene.

Objects

  • We support glTF and OBJ files. We highly recommend switching your 3D production pipeline to glTF.

  • Textures must be JPG or PNG (TGA is not supported).

    • Diffuse, Bump, Normal (Experimental : transparency support) are supported.
  • Consider the general performance of your scene

    • 2K maximum for diffuse (4K on most powerful platforms), 1024x1024 on bump & normal textures (2048 max on most powerful platforms)
    • Less than 60K triangles per model on AR platforms.
    • Avoid more than 120K triangles total on AR platforms.

Important notes

If exporting a .obj from Blender, make sure you toggle the "Relative” mode in the very last option called "Path Mode”. Else the path written in the .mtl exported along the .obj will be incorrect and Minsar won’t be able to find the texture.
